Remember being given a word, an idea or a theme and using that as inspiration? Remember the excitement that ran through your mind and traveled to your fingertips as your idea came to life? You’ve probably experienced this during your critique sessions from various creative classes. Remember the nervous anticipation that traveled through your spine as you wondered what others would say about your work? The rush of inspiration and adrenaline doesn’t need to stop after you graduate. As everyone grows farther apart in their physical locations and busy lives, there are still two things that connect us as artists – the desire to create and be inspired AND the world wide web.
Here, on this blog, I will create such a community called The Inspirational Circle. Let go of your creative block, and let the Inspirational Circle inspire you. Each month I will post a theme along with some inspiring examples and all creative people are inspired to share their work based on that theme. All creative work will be considered – drawing, painting, photography, poetry, prose, mixed media, sculpture, etc. All prose and poetry can be directly submitted as a comment and all images and other media may need to be submitted via a link to your url. At the end of the month, I will respond to that thread with my work in relations to that theme and also highlight my favorite submissions. Then I will start a new theme for the following month.
To kick off 2012, the theme for January is REFLECTION.
Think literally or figuratively and make it your own. Have fun with it and be inspired. Need some inspiration?
Read about the various meanings of the word reflection on Wikipedia
Some religious poems here: http://silentreed.hubpages.com/hub/Poems-of-Reflection
Since I couldn’t find a really cool poem about reflection online, I shall inspire you with one of my old ones: Not Even the Trees
As for imagery, here are some cool ones that I found online 🙂
Alright, go speculate your ideas and make some art! I shall do the same and will post back here around 2/12/11. I will send twitter updates, so hope to see your work start piling up. 😉
You can also participate through the Facebook Page! We have 9 creative people already involved in the fun!
