Remember being given a word, an idea or a theme and using that as inspiration? Remember the excitement that ran through your mind and traveled to your fingertips as your idea came to life? Remember the frustration you felt when it won’t come to you? You’ve probably experienced this during your critique sessions from various creative classes. Remember the nervous anticipation that traveled through your spine as you wondered what others would say about your work? The rush of inspiration and adrenaline doesn’t need to stop after you graduate. As everyone grows farther apart in their physical locations and busy lives, there are still two things that connect us as artists – the desire to create and be inspired AND the world wide web.
I have always enjoyed the idea of an artistic community where people get together to share their work, passions and ideas, encouraging and inspiring each other to go above and beyond what they are capable of.
Here, on this blog, I will create such a community called The Inspirational Circle. Let go of your creative block, and let the Inspirational Circle inspire you. Each month I will post a theme along with some inspiring examples and all creative people are inspired to share their work based on that theme. All creative work will be considered – drawing, painting, photography, poetry, prose, mixed media, sculpture, etc. All prose and poetry can be directly submitted as a comment and all images may need to be submitted via a link to your url. At the end of the month, I will respond to that thread with my work in relations to that theme and also highlight my favorite submissions. Then I will start a new theme for the following month.
I will kick off 2012 with the theme of reflection 🙂
I will be linking each month’s thread as they come, and each thread will be under the Inspirational Circle category. Enjoy!
Some other themes and ideas I have for the remainder of the year are as follows (not in any particular order):
Rhythm and Repetition
If you have any other theme ideas, feel free to leave a comment 🙂 I invite you to be inspired.
